“Canopée” Wing Masts – Trimarine S.R.L.

An extremely innovative and very interesting project from the point of view of ecology and energy saving was the wing masts that AYRO – OceanWings realised for Ariane Group. Thanks to the four 40m high wing masts with a total area of 1452 m2, the cargo ship ‘Canopée’ is able to save more than 35% fuel.
A VPLP project, developed using experience from the America’s Cup, led to the birth of the first true hybrid fuel/wind propulsion ship, a vessel intended to transport Ariane 6 launcher components from France mainland to the French Guiana.
Trimarine worked closely with AYRO – OceanWings, coordinating the construction of the carbon masts and the boom and peak system, components made by infusion in Italy and Poland.
June 2024 saw the return to France of ‘Energy Observer,’ the catamaran that in five years travelled over 68,000 miles with the Oceanwings prototypes that Trimarine had installed in 2019.

    Advanced Marine Projects

Back in 1989 the core of what is today our management team was invited to participate in a landmark project – the ‘Il Moro di Venezia’ IACC campaign. Along with other members of the 200 strong team, we designed and built a unique facility where all five campaign vessels were developed, built and tested.
