H2O & WIZZARD – AVC 80

Year: 2006 – 2007

In the fall of 2004, Andrea Vallicelli asked Trimarine to follow the construction of a cruising 80′, they were designing for a client, to be built by Cantiere Yacht 2000 of Salvirola (nr. Crema – Italy). It was to be a cruising sloop built by a yard with which they had already worked in the past. The construction choice was to be a Vinylester resin laminate of E glass and foam sandwich. Not a particularly sofisticated structure but just the correct compromise between modern technology and containment of weight and cost. This was to be a real cruiser and not an all out race yacht. The construction of “Wizzard” started in the Spring of 2005 and the launching party was in early July 2006; Wizzard sailed pleasantly all summer even participating in some regattas of the Rolex Maxi Cup in Sardinia during September and later was exhibited at the Genoa Boatshow 2006. During the Spring of 2006 Andrea Vallicelli again asked us to follow the construction of a near sistership to “Wizzard”. The construction of “H2O” started that Summer and the boat was launched in June 2007 just in time for the sailing season. Like it’s predecessor, this second AVC 80′ took part in the Rolex Maxi Cup in Porto Cervo during September 2007 and followed on to the Genoa Boatshow where it was exhibited. Our work as Owner’s Representatives was essentially of construction assistance and supervision; We have advised Owner and Yard in the tecnical choices related to the Hull-Deck-Internal Structure construction; similar work was done with respect to the definition of systems and interiors that in the case of “Wizzard” were designed by the studio of Clemente Burisi Vici, while “H2O” was entirely designed by Studio Andrea Vallicelli & Co. (AVC).
